  • YES, you can enroll your child in an afternoon enrichment class – even if they are not in school that day.

Mondays:  "Hooked on Books with Mrs. Sherman and Mrs. Ellsworth

The children will be taught some of the tools they need to build confidence in reading.  They will be introduced to age appropriate literature.  They will be read books, have conversations about the books, with possibly food and games relating to the books.  They will be introduced to and study the alphabet, learn sight words, and create their own books.  "Hooked on Books" will encourage kids to develop a love of reading and help develop skills they'll need to be life long learners.

Tuesdays:  “Engineering with LEGOS" with Mrs. O"Donnell and Mrs. Amman

Count the studs, explore the dimensions and build different towers; I guarantee you will be thinking math!  Legos allow imaginations to run free.  The children will CREATE with Legos, look for SIMILARITIES, create a lego series, GROUP in relative size order, create patterns and more!

Wednesdays:  "Farm to Table Cooking" with Mrs. Daniels and Mrs. Sherman

Your child will experience a fun filled afternoon learning how to grow vegetables and herbs and at the same time use their culinary skills to cook something "healthy" and "yummy".  Each week they will observe, discover, experiment, nurture and learn something about the garden.  It will also be a creative and fun cooking class "adding" a little math in a tasty way.  Estimating, measuring, sorting, graphing and using patterns are just a few of the terms being used by the children.  The class will be a hands on playing in the dirt kind of class.

Thursdays:  “Discovering the World of Art" with Mrs. Daniels and Mrs. Valenti

Art activities and experiences form a foundation of this program, which is designed to foster creativity and freedom of expression.  Painting, drawing, mixed media, collage and play are the creative engine of this unique art learning experience.  Dance and movement is another form of art that will also be introduced to the children.  Why not allow your child to experience an art filled afternoon.  You never know who the next Picasso might be!

Friday: World of Science" with Mrs. O'Donnell and Mrs. Valenti

Your child will be introduced to the World of Science.  They will have lots of fun exploring various topics such as colors, chemical reactions, volcanoes, using a balance scale and magnetic reactions, just to name a few.  The children will be encouraged to make predictions and will use hands on experiments to see if they were right!
